The US Environmental Protection Agency proposed new rules for five persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic chemicals under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) in March of 2021. One of these chemicals is phenol, isopropylated phosphate(3:1) or PIP (3:1). Under the new rules, processing and distribution of PIP (3:1) containing products would be prohibited, with certain exceptions, and the release of PIP (3:1) into water would be prohibited. The goal of these rules is to limit and lower amounts of PIP (3:1) being manufactured and used to reduce human exposure.
The initial deadline for compliance has been extended to October 21, 2024. By this date, manufacturers will need to comply with the restrictions. Source Intelligence (Total Parts Plus) is gathering TSCA data in addition to EU RoHS, EU REACH, Conflict Minerals, Prop 65, POPs, material declarations and more.
